Police Unit Goes Undercover With Unique Color Changing Paint

Twenty-two-year-old Robbie Argote-Carrillo and his mom Stacee Carrillo embrace outside their Canyon Country home with his new custom made wheelchair designed by Steve Flanagan of the television show "Paint Misbehavin'."

Up until last month, 22-year-old Robbie Argote-Carrillo used an old, basic wheelchair that wasn't too comfortable.

But with help from artist Steve Flanagan from the new TLC television show "Paint Misbehavin'", that "thrashed" wheelchair is no more.

The Canyon Country resident, who has cerebral palsy, now gets around in a personalized, red wheelchair with flame designs.

The family has seen a change in Robbie since the gift of the wheelchair.

"He sits up better in this one," said Stacee Carrillo, Robbie's mom.

Robbie proudly agreed.

"It's comfortable," he said.

Flanagan's original wheelchair to Argote-Carrillo, presented in May, featured heat-reactive paint that changed from red to pink.

A second wheelchair was created only with the color red and flames, after Argote-Carrillo didn't like the pink.

The wheelchair was the fourth for Argote-Carrillo, who began using one during his childhood.

As an added bonus, TLC camera crews followed Argote-Carrillo and his family for a segment on the show that debuted last week.

Carrillo recalled the filming, which she said gave her son a chance to shine in the spotlight.

"He was pretty excited about it," she said.

Carrillo was especially pleased that the show spotlighted the needs of people with disabilities.

Throughout the show, cameras followed Robbie and his family from Smart & Final grocery store in Newhall to their Canyon Country home.

Argote-Carrillo worked at Smart & Final for six months while he was a student at Transitional Learning Charter, a William S. Hart Union High School District school that teaches disabled adults life skills.

Argote-Carrillo, who attended Valencia High School before starting at the charter school, was able to take part in community-based instruction. Attending the charter school allowed Argote-Carrillo to become more independent as he learned daily activities, like how to take the bus, Carrillo said.

Earlier this month, Argote-Carrillo graduated from Transitional Learning Charter after two years at the school.

"It was a great program," she said.

Steve knows Jeff is the man when it comes to throwing down paint and completely overhauling anything that sits on 4 wheels. Jeff started out by stripping Rob's Escalade down to the bone. Rob could hardly stand to watch. It wasn't long before Jeff was ready to get the truck into the booth and do what he loves most, throwing paint down. Mike Derfus came down from Sound Off Signal with a whole trunk full of goodies to equip the Escalade with everything it needs to transform into its black and white alter ego. On Thursdays episode of Paint Misbehavin on TLC we saw just what Mike and the guys were able to pull off, let’s just say it was a phenomenal job. The Escalade was definitely an intimidating beast when dressed out in black and white and the Sound Off Signal light bar, ghost lights and complete siren box, controller and mic added all the bells and whistles needed to really push this project "over the top".
Mike and his crew came up with an ingenious way for Steve to be able to swivel the light bar on top of the vehicle so when it is in the off position is hardly even noticeable, and Jeff Mersey smoked out the lenses with some black and this thing was COMPLETELY hidden. When it came time for the unveil Steve hit the switch and the light bar swivels into position coming to life as the doors change and the Cloaking Cop Car becomes a reality. TLC's Paint Misbehavin Inferno Fireproof Test

Benny is in his “Hay Day” as the cast of Paint Misbehavin puts their fireproof paint Inferno to the ultimate test. TLC's special which aired Thursday June 25th @ 10 featured Steve Flanagan and cast as they set out to display their hottest paints with a new twist. The team heads out to a special effects lot and frames up a wall partition to simulate a house and paints it with the Imperial's Inferno (Fireproof Paint). Upon completion of the wall it was time to attempt to “light it up” with everything John had in his arsenal. Steve pulled out a flamethrower and really set in to the wall right of the bat. Soon after the flamethrower assault it was time for Benny to "play" with all of the BIGGER pyrotechnic toys on the lot. Color Changing Cop Car on TLC's Paint Misbehavin

Steve Flanagan and the cast of Paint Misbehavin show debuted on TLC Thursday night a Color Changing Cop Car. This cop car is straight out of the future, with doors that heat up and trigger the Heatwave paint causing it to switch from black to invisible and revealing the completely detailed Hardway Patrol logo on the side of this futuristic black and white Escalade. The Paint Misbehavin gang call out Sean Heick who works with the LAPD and is responsible for getting the LAPD as well as many other departments their road ready vehicles. If Steve could impress Sean the rest would be easy!

The day of the unveil Sean and Steve decide to take their new toy out for some real world testing. They go to a spot Sean knew was notorious for vandals and taggin'. Within minutes they spot a couple kids armed with spray cans wreaking havoc. They approach completely stealth with the truck all black and hit their switch. As the transformation begins we see the Heatwave paint disappear and the Hardway Patrol logo appear, once the transformation is complete the boys hit the lights and sirens and the taggers are off and running! 212 MPH Lamborghini

The NEW Lamborghini Murcielago LP 670-4 SV SuperVeloce had its debut at the Geneva Auto Show and after watching the video they presented we felt it was only fitting to label it HARD. With its 6.5-litre V12 tweaked to 670 horsepower engine it will devour concreter for breakfast and asphalt for lunch. The LP 670-4 SV model is loaded with super light weight materials all around and can go from 0-62mph in only 3.2 seconds and reach an incredible top speed of 212 mph.
The look of the car is more aggressive than its predecessor, with a more angular front fascia, hood vents near the A-pillars, gloss-black wheels, large rear bumper protrusions, and a choice of two rear wings.

Lamborghini Murcielago LP 670-4 SV SuperVeloce Video Presentation

The exterior will feature a lot of carbon fiber, with the whole lower body being comprised of matte-black CF to offset by the upper body's gloss black paint.

A big "SV" vinyl will be an option, but carbon ceramic brakes are standard and sit behind unique 18-inch wheels wearing Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires.

There’s also an all-new ultra-light exhaust system, complete with a wider tailpipe for an even louder sound.

The interior of the Murcielago SV is dressed in Alcantara and comes with a set of lightweight carbon-fiber bucket seats. The door panels are also clad in carbon fiber, as is the wide center tunnel.

Thought we would post up this little slideshow video of Ice-T's completed "Murder Red" Bentley GT Continental.
This car received MAJOR attention at this years DUB Show in Phoenix AZ where it debuted to a packed house. With Ice-T and Coco on hand, a Meet-n-Greet and a special performance by Ice, the crowd was "jumpin" and the Bentley dropped jaws as cameras flashed.
Once again it's HARD Lifestyle and their Custom Paint Technologies that makes them say... "Now that's HARD!!!"

Ice-T's Bentley Makes it's debut at DUB Phoenix

Saturday May 31st at the DUB Car Show in Phoenix, Arizona marked the debut of Ice-T's Murder Red Bentley GT Continental. It was a packed house with all eyes on Ice-T's new whip treated with a fresh paintjob using a one off color made special just for this project. This DUB appearance included a Meet-n-Great with Ice and Coco and even a special performance by Ice-T on the DUB stage. Fans lined up across the hall to take pictures of Ice, Coco and this incredible car. The crowd was buzzing over the Bentley and it's new set of CEC wheels which topped off this dynamite package.

Rad Busa hits Cycle World

We posted a few days ago the pictures from Rad Greaves World Record Breaking 1661cc Suzuki Hayabusa which broke 200MPH during an actual race on the track. Well this is the issue of Cycle World that covered the event. This bike made headlines around the world and really showed all what you can do with chrome paint and a little bit of creativity. When Darrick Angelone came to meet up with Steve Flanagan to ask him if he wanted to paint a pair of tricked out shoes using the latest arsenal of custom paints, we had no clue he would take it this far. Darrick enlisted the help of Anton Liu of Air FX Airbrush a very talented up and comer in the airbrush world to give him a sample of what he could come up with. Well the results speak for themselves! This is a truly a custom pair of kicks and the airbrushing cover with the red candy adds a nice touch for sure!

Teams Suzuki's World Record Breaker (Chrome Paint)

When Rad Greaves came in and said he was going to break the World Record for Top Speed on the track during an AMA sanctioned race, he wanted his bike to really stand out. We knew there was only one finish that would be worthy. Of course we were thinking of using our Chrome Paint Technology! As you see below the Chrome definitely did the trick, this bike was a showstopper. Not only did it break the record by exceeding 200 MPH in the race, it also broke a record for most photographed bike in the pits. The crowds were incredible, you couldn't get near the display for most of the day. Rad, I'd say you accomplished your goal and Suzuki got a bike worthy of calling it a "Rad-Busa".

Tyler King's Gold & Black Chrome Dirt Bike

They call him "The Dead King" because he was exactly that, DEAD while doing what he loves best, jumping dirt bikes. Tyler King wrecked hard and the result was a "Flatline". Tyler keeps a card in his wallet that shows his EKG readout FLAT as a reminder of what can happen when it all goes wrong.... HOWEVER this bike done specially for T.K. shows you what can happen when it all goes RIGHT!

Tyler's CR was voted as the "Hottest" bike out there when it burst on the scene with it's Gold Frame and Black Chrome plastics. This thing is truly stunning! Tyler I sure hope you kept it "shiny"... I think it's time to do a new one for sure!!!

A "Rusted-Out" Fiberglass Body HotRod???

This car is an incredible piece of work shown at a local Car Show in 2007. An immaculate car which was at one point a completely "cherry" Canary Yellow show car was transformed to appear rusted. That's right guys this completely fiberglass body was "antiqued" down to every last detail to look like mother nature has ravished it beyond belief. Upon closer inspection the amount of detail that went into this job is staggering. If we didn't show you the Before and After shots you'd swear it was a metal bodied car.... Wouldn't you?
This is an example of "Antiquing" at its FINEST!

What more can you say, today the "O.G." himself Ice-T and beautiful wife Coco came to the shop to check out the progress on the "Murder Red" Bentley GT. Cameras rolled as Ice-T ripped apart the crew that attempted to paint his Bentley for him in N.Y. needless to say they screwed it up BIG-TIME.
Ice reminds them on camera, N.Y. we love you BUT there's only one place to go if you really want that Candy Paint done and done right... and that is CALIFORNIA where it was born, and obviously HARD Lifestyle, where it was PERFECTED!
Coco was on hand to give her "seal of approval" and once we knew she liked the color, the rest would be easy!

Big thanks to Ice-T and Coco for stopping by the shop and showing "The Love". We appreciate it Ice and the Bentley is going to "kill"... Guess that's why such a perfect name for the color... MURDER Red!

Ice-T comes to check out the STRIPPED Bentley!

As promised guys here is round 2 of the pictures. Ice stops by to check out the progress of his Candy Apple "Murder Red" Bentley GT (A special color developed by HARD Lifestyle exclusively for this project). We take a shot at selling him on the idea of Tape Fades on the sides of this "one of a kind" Bentley... But alas the unanimous decision was to stay sort of conservative on this one and just go solid candy finish... No graphics or lines in it.
You can see from a few of the pics it would have been definitely a HARD Bentley with tape fades, however this car is most definitely going to impress!

After this set I'll put up the 3rd installment today including the shots of Coco and Ice-T playing around with the sample color shape... and the shots of Ice-T doing his thing with the camera!

Cory Saint Clair Incredible Airbrush Art

I wanted to share with you a collection from one of our top artists Cory Saint Clair. This is just an appetizer of what's to come from this incredible artist.
Cory burst onto the California scene a few years back, hailing from my last hometown of Atlanta Georgia, we hit it off right away. Cory is responsible for some of the most realistic, and cutting edge art out there today.
The first artist to play with the interactive Heat Reactive Paint, Cory shocked everyone with the Super Street bike Magazine feature bike "Tattoo". He used a combination of Heat Reactive Paint and Blue Candy so when the bike was cold it was black, but when it warmed up it became Blue with a highly detailed, Tattoo inspired Japanese graphics scheme.
Cory is also responsible for the "FALLEN SOLDIER" Iraq War Memorial Vehicle shown in this showcase, which I think I can speak for EVERYONE who has seen this car it takes your breath away and instills a true feeling of American pride in a group of men who gave it all for our freedom, so I could write these blogs like I am tonight, and share with you my passions. Some people will never be this lucky!

Steve Vai's EXOTIC Chrome Guitar

This project is definitely worth sharing. This incredible guitar was made special for the modern day super hero of the guitar world Steve Vai. Emerald Guitars in Ireland came up with the "out of this world" design. When Allister wanted to make this guitar look “carved” out of a block of metal Chrome was the only option. The addition of a Red Candy fade really put it over the top.
With the current situation of markets flooded with Chinese import instruments Allister's business slowed to the point he is currently doing only VERY limited runs. My goal with this post is to let the world know that one of the true innovators Allister from Emerald Guitars in Ireland is the place to go when you really want a “top of the line” finely crafted instrument, and if enough of us go get one he’ll be back on top of the industry in no time. Mr. Vai knew where to get quality, and I say we can trust his judgement!
Allister made me a few Carbon Fiber Acoustic / Electric guitars that have the most AMAZING action and solid tone I’ve seen. Don’t take our word for it… Ask around or better yet go get one and experience it for yourself.

Although I'm not a Giants fan per say, I have to admit I was glad to see them pull the "upset" this year against the New England Patriots. I would have hated to hear everyone for years to come talking about how Bill and the Patriots didn't deserve it after all the "SpyGate" B.S. that went on this year. As far as I'm concerned the face of football was saved! Now you knew it wouldn't take long for the parody songs to show up but this one just made me laugh so I figured we'd share it here.

We plan to put up the craziest or just plain funniest videos we find on the web here on our blogs and share with the rest of you. Let us know what you think guys.... Drop some comments too!

Snoop Dogg and Chrome Footballs for The Kids

We wanted to helps Snoop Dogg do something really special for his Pop-Warner football team the Pamona Steelers. Coach Snoop's team went undefeated this season and he wanted to reward them with something just as special as their performances. These kids fought a long hard season to stay number 1 so we couldn't let them down.

We came up with Chrome and Gold footballs. That's right each kid got his own little "Lombardi Trophey" to take home and put on the mantle OR they could actually play with these footballs as they remain TOTALLY flexable.

So again congratulations Steelers and we'll see you next season with something else to "blow your minds" so work hard and let's do it again.... We'll be there!!!

When Lou Dog said he had a "Wild Idea" and wanted to make a Trike that really stood out, it was our job to bring his unique ideas to life. There was only one choice and that was our most DRAMATIC paint Heat Reactive Paint we had available. Lou Spent countless hours at the shop making sure no detail was overlooked and the results speak for themselves. So check out the YouTube video below where we assembled all of the still shots and even added a few sequences of the color change in action. Lou Dog loved it!... We hope you will too.

Figured we'de throw up these pictures and let you see first hand what we're working on NOW!

The pictures below show totally FLAT panels painted with a new coating capable of creating FULL 3D effects without any build up or height change... This layer is no thicker than any other layer of paint when applied, BUT can be manipulated to show designs and patterns such as:

Company Logos (Imagine where the emblem of your car now says Chevy... could be done this way and remain totally flat but achieve the "hologram" effect as shown here)

Designs (Racing Stripes, Flames etc. could all be done this way)

Bullet Holes and Dents can be made to look incredibly realistic.

Again take a look at these pics below... The possibilities are ENDLESS and the effect is STUNNING!!!
